Practice makes perfect.

When I played sports growing up as a kid, my coaches always told the team that practice makes perfect... and if you want to take it further, my high school baseball coach used to say, "perfect practice, makes perfect." The band has been practicing none stop the last week. I've been learning how to tweak a brand new digital sound board (that by the way... I will be seeing more this summer than my parents and friends).  This sound board is my new baby, her name is Missy. Anyways... It's been really cool to hear them develop as musicians the more they play together. Meanwhile, I've been making myspaces and websites so the little campers can keep in touch with us. The myspace url is: myspace.com/transparentsmt  ... if you were wondering.

Also, I made this website the other day for fun.

We got back yesterday from Upland, CA on our first journey to a High School youth group.  It was beautiful there. Our guitar player Mark and his girlfriend Shelby, who sings in the band's parents made us some of the best food. Salmon, Carne Asada, and everything else that I packed into my stomach boths nights! So, that was our first expedition out in the world. Here is a picture of the mountains from outside the church.

This is my buddy Mark. He bought this brand new American Telecaster the other day. How sweet is this guitar?

Well, that's pretty much all I have for you right now. Jordan and I wrote a song tonight but it's for a "special someone's" ears only. Sorry friends. We plan on writing some songs about Jesus this summer so you'll get to hear those.

The beginning.

How is everyone? And when I say everyone... I have no clue what that means because in all honesty, I don't know if anyone checks this thing but if you're reading this, I hope you are good!

So this has been the start of many new things the past week or so. It's the first time I get to see Point Loma during the summer. If it wasn't for the hundreds of kids running around for this Nazarene Youth Conference this weekend, Loma would be a ghost town. By the way... if you haven't been introduced to where I go to school let me take care of that for you:

Good, now that's settled let us continue. I've been training to learn how to drive a huge freakin' bus! It's been a lot of work going through the process but once we hit the road it should be fun. The band has been practicing a ton and eating a lot of really good food. Loma definitely knows how to show a group of college kids great hospitality. It's been a blast getting to know the band. They're an amazing group of people. Not only are they hilarious to be around and mature in their faith but they shred when they play together. I'm stoked to see what sounds they make this summer. Speaking of them... let me introduce you... my friends, meet Transparent!

From Left to Right:  Lindsay, Shelby, Jordan, Me, Rachel, Mark, Justin

So that's what I've been up to the last few days. Thanks for reading this thing. It'll be fun to watch it grow with stories and memories as the summer goes on.

Peace!

fishing continued...

Here are some photos from our big fishing day.

As you can tell, at the end of the day... my dad didn't really care that he didn't catch anything, he thought the fact that his poles were completely entangled pretty much summed up the day.

The angler going to work.

By the way, Indiana Jones... it was so, so. I'm not going to hate on it like everyone else. It's a hollywood film but an adventure non the less.

Goodnight (for reals).

Adidas, fishing, and indiana jones

So, the last few days have been filled with somewhat of a diverse & exciting array of events.

Monday, I worked on an Adidas commercial in Long Beach as a production assistant. If you're wondering what that is... I get coffee for the director/move cameras from location to location/anything else "they" want us PA's to do. The call time was 4am. Waking up at 3 was fun.

Tuesday involved a day at the lake with my pops. We took a nice little drive to the desert and rented a sweet fishing boat to take out for the day. You must be thinking, "so, did ya catch anything?" my dad responded to that question when my mom expected a fish dinner as well dear, "we caught some sun rays...". Nevertheless, it was a fun day with my dad.

Tonight, in about 10 minutes I'm going to meet some friends to watch the midnight showing of Indiana Jones. That's right my friends... the classic IJ will never die.

Night amigos!

Howdy!

Thanks for checking out my blog. You might be thinking... what is the purpose of making a blog when I already have a facebook and a myspace?

Well my friends, this is why:
- This summer (starting friday may 23) I will be going to my school in san diego to practice with a band who I will be traveling with this summer. This would mean I will be gone from my friends back at home.
- I wanted to create a way to share my stories, laughs, and prayers with the people I would not be able to see this summer and maybe some photographs along the way too.
- I think this is a cool way to communicate through a series of impersonal letters and short updates that I can share when I can get on the internet in the midst of late night travels and crazy campers.

I'm stoked to see what happens this summer. Thanks for caring about me this much to read this far in my first blog. there will be many more to come. xoxo
